Surbond 915 (SB 915) is a high-value, solid core gasket sealing material. It features an OEM-quality, high-value, flexible graphite facing material chemically bonded to a solid carbon steel core offering strength and handleability in a wide variety of applications. With the graphite facing, this product features excellent sealing performance and conformability to flanges, in addition to temperature resistance. The graphite also provides thermal conductivity both through the thickness and the sheet direction.

SB 915 also has natural lubricity, requiring no release agent or coating for thermal motion.

Outer Appearance

Finished SB 915 has a smooth, shiny grey finish. It is easily cut with standard cutting methods.

Coatings

Fiber-type laminates are often coated with an anti-stick coating to improve both fluid sealing and the release properties from the flanges upon teardown of the joint. MTI offers our TechCoat product line for this purpose. These water-based coatings can be applied to sheets or finished parts and are specially designed to accept a silicone bead in these types of applications.
